Oralift works with your body’s natural ability to relax and adapt.
When your lips are gently closed, your back teeth normally do not touch. There is usually a small gap between them (about 1-3 mm), known as the freeway space.
The jaw muscles constantly sense this distance. When people are relaxed, this space is slightly larger. Under tension, many people unknowingly hold their teeth closer together or lightly touching.
You can think of this like background noise in the system, rather like background noise on a phone line.
When the teeth are held too close together, the muscles stay slightly active and the nervous system receives continuous tension signals.
1. A short signal to the muscles
Oralift is worn briefly with small blocks between the back teeth. This changes the usual spacing and sends a new signal to the brain about jaw position.
2. The body relaxes and adapts
In response, the brain allows the jaw muscles to relax, and the natural space between the teeth increases. This reduces constant muscle activity and background tension.
3. Changes develop over time
With repeated short use and rest periods, this more relaxed pattern can become more natural. Many people notice changes in facial tension, posture, and overall comfort.
