When your lips are gently closed, your back teeth normally do not touch. There is usually a small gap between them (about 1-3 mm), known as the freeway space.

Who is this treatment for?

I have missing teeth. Can I still use Oralift.

We recommend you have at least one molar tooth in each side top and bottom. If you have your molar teeth missing but have implants or removable dentures, then the Oralift device can be fitted on top of the denture or implanted teeth.

The Oralift device is fitted on the lower teeth, but you need the top molar teeth to bite when fitting the device.

You may be able to fit the Oralift without the recommended molars, but you would need guidance.

What if I am having ortho treatment or other dental work done?

If you are already having orthodontic treatment, you should wait until it is finished. This is especially true if you are having a system like Invisalign.

If you are at the stage with your treatment where the movement of your teeth is completed and you are wearing a retainer, you can use Oralift.

If you are having fixed braces, consult your orthodontist, as Oralift could help by relaxing the muscles and by teaching that teeth should not touch.

If you are considering orthodontic treatment, it is a good idea to have Oralift first, as it will relax the muscles and may hasten the orthodontic results. Obviously, you would not use Oralift while your teeth are moving, but your device can be remoulded after your orthodontic treatment.

Can I use Oralift with other treatments?

It depends on the condition of your facial muscles — whether they’re tense or relaxed.

Start by doing our Touch Test to check your muscle state:

If your facial muscles are tense or show signs of overuse, focus first on relaxation techniques and let them recover before combining Oralift with any other treatment. Even short use (1–2 minutes) gives the neuromuscular queue to reduce muscle holding.
If your muscles are healthy and relaxed, you can continue your usual treatments. Oralift can actually complement other modalities and enhance results.

We recommend using Oralift alone for the first two weeks before adding any other treatments.

In short:
Check your muscle state, follow the protocol, and then decide. Oralift works well as a stand-alone technique, but combining it later may bring faster and even better results.
